Ba Be National Park
Bac Kan National Park locates in northwest of Ba Be suburban district, far from Bac Kan City 68 km to the northwest, 250 km from Hanoi to the north.
Established by Decision No, 83/TTg on 10 November, 1992 of the Prime Minister, Ba Be National Park has an area of 10,048 ha, located in the old Karsts limestone mountain area, having special geological structure with many high mountains, caves, rivers, lakes, underground streams creating particularly attractive landscape. In 2004, Ba Be National Park was recognized as Asian’s heritage park, the 1938. RAMSAR zone of the world and the 3rd RAMSAR zone of Vietnam in 2011; a special national tourist attraction in 2012.
Ba Be National Park is a special use forest where preserves valuable and rare genes. About plant, there 162 families, 672 genera, 1,268 species of high plants with, in which 77 species are recorded in Vietnam’s Red Book, 38 species are globally endangered and recorded in the world’s Red Book, 52 endemic species of Vietnam such as: wire bamboo, red apple, etc. About animals, there are 81 species of animals, in which 27 species are recorded in Vietnam’s Red Book, 19 species are recorded in the world's Red Book; 322 species of birds, in which 21 species are recorded in Vietnam’s Red Book, 6 species are recorded in the world’s Red Book, 44 species of amphibian reptiles, in which 17 species are recorded in Vietnam’s Red Book, 18 species are recorded in the world’s Red Book: 106 species of fishes, in which 11 species are records in Vietnam’s Red Book, 1 species is recorded in the world’s Red Book. Ba Be is an important habitat zone of 2 species of primates as white-cheeked black langur and 1 species of narrow endemic reptile as flowered-belly toad. Many endangered species have concentrated here as: tiger, bear, serow, red wolf, leopard, etc.
Ba Be National Park is an ecotourism area with more than 20 attractive sights such as: Puong cavern, Dau Dang waterfall, Fairy pond, Ba Be Lake, An Ma island and temple, Widow island, Tham Khit cave, Na Phoong cavern, Hua Ma cavern; walking tours in the primary forest: cultural tourism villages such as Pac Ngoi, Bo Lu, Coc Toc, Hin Dam, Khau Qua, Nam Dai, Cam Ha, Cam Thuong, etc. With beautiful natural scenery, unique cultural character, Ba Be National Park is an attractive ecotourism in North mountain areas of Vietnam.
