Mau temple locates in Nguyen Trai district, Ha Giang City. The temple has another name is Cam Son Linh Tu) sacred temple of Cam mountain which is usually called Mau temple by the local people. Them temple is where the three Holy Maus are worshiped, including: Lieu mother, Thuong Ngan mother and Thuy mother
Mau temple was built at the end of 18 century. To 1889, the 3 Thien Tin Dao Quan Association of Ha Giang moved to Quy Luu ward, Kim Bang district, Hanoi province now belonging to Kim Bang district, Ha Nam province to copy title conferral and have an incense procession to Mau Temple of Ha Giang. Before 1947, there was a temple of Tran Quoc Tuan Royal Highest King who was usually called Tran Saint in front of Mau Temple.
In 1947, to implement war scorched-earth policy empty garden and house, and to avoid enemy impureness, the statue was hidden and the temple was destroyed by the local people. In restoration of peace, the statue of Tran Saint was moved in Mau temple for worshiping. At present, there are 2 over 100-year-old bronze bells in the temple. The first bell was casted In Thanh Thai Dinh Mui year (1907) and donated by Leader Nguyen Quang Bao of Hung cong Association, Vi Xuyen district, Ha Giang province, the second bell is called Tran Temple bell with 4 Chinese words: Linh Tu Kiep Bac.
Mau temple is where many traditional folk festivals are held to pray for good weather, crops, health, and peace. In 2007, Mother temple was ranked as provincial cultural historical relic.
